12th March 2009

Anna definitely did not succeed in the yesterday’s race. Six misses, 20th course time (2 minutes 1 second slower than Magdalena NEUNER) – and 56th place as a result. Anna was worse only three times in her career (she has competed in 35 World Cup races in all) and not once this season. We hope that in the remaining days in Vancouver Anya will be able to improve her results in order to get pleasant memories about the host of the next Olympic Games.
«Anna didn’t feel a hundred per cent fit today ,» Alexander SELIFONOV said today in an interview. «But neither she nor other our athletes expressed a wish to skip next race.» So the Russian line-up for tomorrow’s sprint will be the same.

10th March 2009

In an interview with the All Sports agency today, Alexander SELIFONOV announced that the Russian national team line-up for the tomorrow's race in Whistler Olympic Park is already determined.
«Yesterday, on 9th March, Svetlana SLEPTSOVA and Olga MEDVEDTSEVA arrived in the team camp. So now we practice in the full strength in Whistler. Of course, Sveta and Olya have a hard times after the trip, but life's like that – you have to do it in spite of yourself if you want to get a deserving result. They have already had the first practice today on the Olympic course. The rest of the girls - Olga ZAITSEVA, Anna BOULYGINA, Iana ROMANOVA and Oksana NEUPOKOEVA - did special exercises for the World Cup races. They skied rapidly on the 3 km lap (with rifles and without), which will be used for tomorrow’s individual. Today we also was allowed to train on the shooting range, for the first time since we are here. Unfortunately there was very strong wind and we had some problems with our shooting.
In the 15 km individual race will participate all six our biathletes that arrived in Canada».

23rd February 2009

And that’s all – Biathlon World Championships 2009 is finished! Anya’s performance was pretty unequal, there was both successful and feeble races. Anyway, the fact remains: Anna Boulygina is a World Champion now! Hurrah!
On February 21st there was held a crack race in Pyeong Chang. The Russian women’s team was weakened by known events, but managed to defeat the German dream team in relay with a margin of more than 1 minute. Olga MEDVEDTSEVA (the third leg) stated that she dedicate this win to Albina AKHATOVA and Ekaterina IOURIEVA. It’s very important and right that neither teammates nor fans turn away from these athletes and believe in their innocence till the complete examination. Our site also expresses ours support to Katya and Albina.
